A little something special

I have loved clay for as long as I can remember. My parents house full of wobbly bowls and cups that I made while taking classes at the local art center when I was a kid. I continued to find my creative outlet through clay in college, through moves across the country and now in my little home studio in the mountains of North Carolina- it brings me joy. More than that, pottery has been a consistent teacher for me in letting go of control, which does not come naturally or easily for me. Anything can happen at any stage in pottery and there are surprises and beauty in that process.

These little organic bowls are some of my favorite things I have made, even though they are so simple. I let go of any expectation that they will be perfect or the same- I can see where my fingers shaped the clay and I love to see the uneven shape the rim takes and how each one differs slightly as they evolve. There is beauty in the letting go, the uniqueness and the differences. I hope you can feel my joy and contentment with whatever may come in each piece and that they bring a little something special to your life.
